When do I use a high chair instead of a bar chair?
Use high chairs or continuous high chairs when the reinforcement sits well above the form — typically for the top mat of thicker slabs and decks where a short bar chair cannot reach the required height.
What heights do rod chairs (continuous high chairs) come in?
Standard heights run from about 50mm up to 400mm and higher, set to the concrete cover you need above the form. State the required cover and top-mat height and we cut the legs to match; taller chairs use a wider base or a continuous runner for stability.
Are rod chairs galvanized or plain steel?
Both. Plain steel is economical for interior slabs, while galvanized or plastic-tipped legs prevent rust staining where the chair meets an exposed or architectural surface. For coastal or aggressive exposure, specify galvanized wire throughout.
What wire diameter do rod chairs use?
Leg and runner wire is typically 4–8mm depending on the load and chair height — heavier wire for the top mat of thick slabs and decks, lighter for shallow slabs. We match the wire to the reinforcement weight the chair must carry without deflecting.
